Jamie Baxter, founder of Exodus 90, sits down with Fr. Gregory Pine, O.P., for a witty yet serious conversation about speech, truth, and the power of prayer. We are thrilled to welcome Fr. Pine as our Spiritual Guide for Exodus 90’s Month of the Rosary challenge.
Drawing on his book Training the Tongue, Fr. Pine unpacks many questions that men carry about how to speak well. Growing in virtuous speech is not merely about avoiding bad talk or retreating into silence. It’s about unleashing the tongue for communion with God and neighbor. Our words matter, but that doesn’t mean we need to take ourselves too seriously. Small talk has its place. Naturally, the conversation turns to NFL allegiances more than you’d expect (or hope for): Fr. Pine says “Go Birds” and Jamie says “Go Colts.”
They reflect upon their own journeys of growing in virtuous speech, the challenges of contemporary internet culture to virtuous discourse, and how to grow in wisdom. Join Fr. Gregory Pine and the Exodus 90 Brotherhood for the Month of the Rosary starting October 1st.
