Activities at Summit

What interests you?

Help us plan for Summit by filling out the interest form at the bottom of this page. 

To ensure you get the most enjoyment out of the fraternal activities on Friday & Saturday of Freedom Summit,  shorter (2-3:30 p.m.) & longer (2-5 p.m.) organized activities are available based upon interest and availability. Please help us plan by selecting the activities you’re interested in below. (Scroll to the bottom of this page to fill in form).

Shorter Activities

Archery
YMCA Archery sessions allow beginners to learn the basics, while experienced archers get a chance to practice honing their skills. Archery is available year-round, outdoor or indoor based upon weather conditions and staffing.
Disc Golf
The 18-hole disc golf course will take you around the YMCA property while testing your skills! Beginners and experts will enjoy the incredible and unique views available as you toss your way around the Y. Your host, guide, & fellow competitor will be USA Ultimate team member & former Amazing Race competitor Kurt Gibson, MC of the Freedom Summit.

Game Room
The YMCA game room includes ping pong, billiards, foosball, table shuffleboard, and more! The game room is located in the basement of the Sweet Memorial Building.

Leatherworking Workshop
Exodus man Austin Casselberry of Golden West Supply will host a leathermaking workshop, teaching some of the art of fine leather craftsmanship.

Longer Activities

Rock Climbing (Guided)
A team from COR Expeditions of Wyoming Catholic College will be taking a van of up to 12 participants each day offsite for rock climbing in the Rockies. Sign up early if you’re interested. This is sure to fill up fast.

Hiking (Guided)
TA team from COR Expeditions of Wyoming Catholic College will lead an onsite hike with occasional stops for discussion & reflection.

(limited to 20 participants per day)

Fishing (Guided)
Fishing at Dorsey Lake, located at the YMCA is only catch-and-release, meaning any fish that are caught must be released back into the water. Since we’re in the off-season, we’re bringing our own guide and will have Freedom Summit fishing gear available for men who choose this activity, and available to borrow at other times

Sports + Games

Mini Golf
Deacon Halbrook of the Exodus team will convene the first-ever “Mini Golf Classic”. Come shoot 18 holes of mini-golf – the winner of the classic will take home bragging rights and a trophy.
5k Race
Bring your running shoes and join us for the inaugural Freedom Summit 5k. Guaranteed to be one of the most scenic runs of your life. Mind the thin air!

Basketball
Nick Meyer of the Exodus team will host a 3-on-3 basketball challenge with as many teams as we can fill. The winning team will take home bragging rights and a trophy.

Softball
Mark “Sheriff” Quaranta, former college baseball standout, member of the Exodus team, and security overseer for the Summit, will host a softball game of Exodus men, if we have enough interest.

Poker
Pull up a chair next to Doyle Baxter and Brock Glaze from the Exodus team. 

Self-Guided

Hiking (Self-Guided)
The YMCA has a variety of on-property hiking trails to explore on your own or with some brothers. Maps will be available at Summit HQ. From strolling around the “Y” grounds to climbing peaks and trekking around beautiful alpine lakes, there are hikes available for everyone.
Museum & Library
Housed in a 1924 guest lodge, the Dorsey Museum features several period room settings and exhibition galleries and restful grounds. Founded in 1907, the Estes Park Center is steeped in history. Learn more about the many historical buildings and sites located throughout our 860 acres. Stop by the museum to start your YMCA history adventure! And in the YMCA Library, from fiction to non-fiction, adventure and a special Colorado section, you are sure to find a book that peaks your interest!

Swimming
Heated to 83 degrees and at a length of 25 yards, you are sure to find room for relaxation and fun. The indoor YMCA swimming pool offers water exercise classes, lap swims and open swim times.

Tennis
Grab a brother and enjoy a game of tennis with some of the best views of the Rocky Mountains!

Adoration & Confession
The Eucharist will be exposed for adoration & silent prayer, and priests will be available for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Freedom Cafe & Partner Showcase
The Freedom Cafe will be open with free beverages and space for fraternal conversation, and the Partner Showcase will be open to explore the partners who are helping make Summit happen.
